Ezekiel Bread is a sprouted grain bread made by the Food For Life company. It is not gluten-free. Ezekiel Bread (and the similar 7 Sprouted Grains Bread) both contain sprouted grains–some of which contain gluten such as barley, spelt, and wheat. Therefore, these breads are not suitable for someone pursuing a gluten-free diet.
The Food For Life company does produce several gluten-free products, including: a brown rice bread, Bhutanese red rice bread, and the “Sprouted For Life” product line–which encompasses gluten-free sprouted grain breads. These could be a good option for gluten-free individuals who want to try high-fiber, protein-rich sprouted breads.
Unfortunately, some Food For Life gluten-free product offerings have been found in the past to be contaminated by gluten. Previously, Gluten Free Watchdog found that Food For Life’s gluten-free millet bread and brown rice tortillas contained more than 20 parts per million gluten. The cause of this incident of contamination is not known. Some customers have anecdotally reported symptoms after eating these foods.
