Farro is a term that refers to a few different types of wheat. Some of the grain types include Einkorn and Emmer. Just like wheat, farro does contain the gluten protein. Therefore, Farro is not a gluten-free product.
Many people that prefer using farro to normal wheat. Many health food stores that cook with farro in their deli or other prepared dishes. When ordering anything from a gourmet establishment or one of these health food delis, one has to use caution. Because, much of the time, they will not label their food with the traditional “contains wheat” warning. This is because they do not use actual wheat. However, it is still dangerous for people to eat–if they have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
