Orange juice, whether squeezed straight off the grove tree, or from vitamin added concentrate, is extremely healthy and provides a wide array of everything that both children and adults need. Without any additives, a glass of orange juice will provide you with sugar, the obvious vitamin C, thiamin, niacin, calcium (which most people do not know) and magnesium – it also contains zero fat! This does not change when other things, like vitamin A are added to the mix.
Orange juice often confuses people who wish to remain gluten-free because the juices available at most stores almost always contain additives. But fear not. Neither “natural” orange juice nor it’s added or concentrate versions contain any gluten whatsoever.
Orange juice straight from the tree is naturally gluten free and when other vitamins and minerals are added to the juice, gluten almost never goes in with them. Gluten (a derivative literally meaning glue) is often used as a binding agent in many food but with orange juice there is simply no reason to use it. Even the highly processed and commercialized types of orange juice like Hi-C do not contain any gluten.
All told, orange juice has been a long standing staple of healthy living and it probably will remain so for a long time, and rightly so. It’s good for you, tastes great, is not usually terribly expensive and best of all it’s completely and utterly gluten free.
