What exactly are Oats? The Latin name is Avena Sativa. They’re a cereal grain–grown for their seed. And, most commonly used for feeding livestock.

They contain more fiber than any other grain. Beta-glucans lowers cholesterol and is found in oatmeal. They may contain a protein called avenailin and many people with celiac disease are sensitive to it.
Is it Gluten-Free?
Quaker Oats are not gluten-free. They are farmed around other grains and become cross contaminated. However, pure oats are gluten-free. It is possible to farm them without cross contamination. Here’s a few companies that do so:
